The New Democratic Party (NDP) commemorated its 50th anniversary on Wednesday evening with a Thanksgiving Service at the New testament Church of God, marking a historic milestone that comes just days after the party’s sweeping victory in the November 27, 2025 general election. The NDP, founded on December 3rd, 1975 by the late Sir James Mitchell, returned to government after 25 years in opposition, securing a commanding 14–1 majority and ending the Unity Labour party’s 24-year tenure in office.
